CoolWorks Canada is a job board where employers post seasonal and year-round employment opportunities. In order to work for any of the Canadian employers listed here, you will need to have legal permission to work in Canada — either through Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, or through a valid work permit.
To be clear, CoolWorks Canada has no ability to grant or assist employers in sponsoring work permits for prospective employees, nor can we assist job seekers in obtaining a Canadian work permit. Further, the majority of employers on CoolWorks Canada are small to medium-sized businesses that are not set up to sponsor international candidates. For this reason, it is not advised that you submit a job application to any employer unless they explicitly state that they are able to hire candidates who don’t already have Canadian work authorization.
The good news for a lot of international job seekers: Canada’s International Experience Canada (IEC) program lets citizens of 36 partner countries and territories — including Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Ireland — get an open work permit without needing an employer to sponsor them first. This is the route most international applicants interested in seasonal hospitality, tourism, and outdoor recreation work in Canada will want to look into first.
If you’re not eligible for IEC — either because your country doesn’t have a youth mobility agreement with Canada, or you’re outside the program’s age range — the other main option is the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP), which requires an employer to sponsor you directly through a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). This path is considerably more restrictive.
